This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

The best explanation I've seen is the suggestion that socialists might generally be against imperialism and colonization. The funny thing is, the deeper message in 5HoC is that the eventual result of colonization is that the natives will imitate, infiltrate and ultimately subvert the society of the colonizers. An interesting consideration in light of minority and immigrant issues currently broiling in Europe, the USA (more in the past) and what Japan seems to be vigorously trying to avoid. I could actually see the argument for 5HoC being a must-read for anti-immigrant, neo-nazi skinheads.
