Green is Urth Redux

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

But it can't be. Lune is orbiting Urth in Severian's time, and is green in colour. The Whorl was launched long before that time, when Scylla was alive - and the Whorl has no surface vegetation. (Also, of course, the Whorl appears to be a lot smaller, at least in diameter; the distance from the interior surface to the Long Sun does not seem to be very great, and it takes only three days to walk through tunnels from the interior surface to the outside.) - Gerry Quinn > --- On Tue, 1/11/11, Gerry Quinn <gerryq at indigo.ie> wrote: > > As for the orbit of the Whorl, I don't think we know much > > about the details of its orbit (or indeed the orbital > > details of Green and Blue).
