This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I don't have a position on any of those matters (except for thinking that
Silk isn't Typhon's clone), but I don't think the data you've mentioned is
non-controversial at all. (I think it can generally be read one way or the
other, if there is a compellig reason to.)

I don't think so. You don't need to settle the details in order to build
upon them. You only need a *possibility* and then it's up to the large
picture to be convincing: the details lead to a scheme, and if the scheme is 
good, it will strengthen the details. (A problem with some grand schemes 
that have been proposed on this list is that they require impossible 
premises and aren't good enough to carry the rest, mostly only explaining 
themselves and nothing else.)
