'King Rat' and the abuse of women in Gene Wolfe's stories

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes.   No, my characters are not like me. I can only imagine what I would be like as a literary character.  A bookish, somewhat awkward lawyer with a penchant for self-deprecation and sarcasm?  Heaven save us from such characters.
Replace 'lawyer' with 'academic', 'writer' or 'publisher', and you have described the hero of 50% of comedic literary fiction.
