Dollo's Law

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Yep, most Laws of science become more and more guidelines with exceptions as the science advances. And
Genetics and Evolutionary science have certainly advanced in the past 100+ years.

Dollo's Law was mentioned by Wolfe in 5HoC. I think its mention was the linchpin of arguments on tool use
(handwriting) and whether Shadow Children became humans on Ste. Anne or not. It evolved into some unpleasant
real world discussions about human racial features, iirc.
