This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I had recently suggested that I thought Wolfe found Severian's meal of

the old Autarch's brain to be as diabolical as the Thecla meal and some

other examples of consciousness trading in Wolfe stories.

 

However I just found a previously unnoticed Wolfe quote which gainsays 

that idea:

I'm not sure if this requires a revamping of my BotNS theory. On the other hand, 

Wolfe's last sentence here fits perfectly with it.
