Trying to remember short story ...

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I am trying to remember the name of a Wolfe short story (I think it was from
Endangered Species, but I am not sure).  It involves a woman and man on
vacation at a beach house.  The man sees a ship on the horizon one day, and
shortly after that, the girl disappears and he goes searching for her.  He
strikes a deal with the captain of the odd ship in order to save her.  I
won't describe the ending so as to keep from spoiling it for someone else,
but hopefully someone can help me remember the name!  Thanks!
