Just wanted to ask a question about this cosmologically.  What is moving in this quote?  How does it apply to what's going on in Urth of the New Sun?  Is the noose simply an effluvium or arreola of light around something stationary?  Or is it grabbing hold of the turret?  Which stone has been flung?
