This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Erm... how about the one quoted by Wolfe?

Venus fits well enough here, and since the Hunter of the East is the Sun, the stone must be something else.

Of course, the stone may not be intended to be visible.  After all, if you throw a stone into a pool that reflects stars, the stars will vanish but so will the stone (as will the White Fountain, incidentally, when it annihilates the black hole at the heart of the sun).  So the stone need not necessarily be any celestial body as such ? it could be that the important thing is that a stone has been flung.
