This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Actually, insofar as I have a theory, the above is pretty much it.  The only thing wrong with it is it tries too hard to explain everything, especially the bird.  But the idea of her possessing a bird to search for him is actually quite neat, I think.  Does she ever possess animals?

Mucor *is* definitely tracking and monitoring Silk ? I think that?s established by her appearance in the tunnels.  So her arrival, at least, is totally in line with this.  And remember, *everything* in the first two books takes place over a few days and nights ? small wonder if things get busy sometimes.

Pike as ghost/vision sent by the Outsider, or as Crane would put it, another of Silk?s blood vessels popping... that works for me too.  Silk thinks he?s been sent to aid Pike.  Pike smiles encouragingly, and fades away.

So yes, I?m entirely serious, although Mucor possessing the bird is just a cute idea.

Ah, I didn?t know that.  So Wolfe has spoken on the subject?  What does he say exactly?

And one implication of that theory is what I stated above, no?

While I?m far from certain of the theory above (the first one, not the techno-ghost, which would work much better if it happened in Rose?s room, which has a glass), I do ?own? it to the extent that I strongly believe it?s correct about Mucor, I think it?s the most reasonable interpretation of Pike so far, and I don?t really know about the bird, but I like the Mucor possession idea.  Silk only saw something behind a curtain that looked like a bird flying out the window, then he thought of Oreb.  He?d have thought of Oreb if he saw any large bird.
