This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I think that having them all in the same city would make it easier for
him to coordinate the various parts when it came time to resuscitate
himself. But your idea of "a thousand Auks" makes sense -- he could
have set up duplicate stores in multiple cities, thus multiplying his
chances when the time is right for return.
