Like a good Neighbor

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Once I found a dead cat on a winter road - a cat killed by car, pressed
flat and frozen,
with intestines around.
I felt that I have to take it off and give it a more decent burial.
Believe me,
it was not pleasant or easy. Maybe I could do what Horn did - cut corpses by
sword and clean the sewer, though it would be harder. I could not be a
torturer
and executioner, like Severian. I think that they are very different, and
when you say that they are similar, it is imagination, not experience.
There is similarity, but difference is important.
