Pike's ghost

Roy C. Lackey · 25 Nov 2011, 22:57 · from 2011-November.txt.gz

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I do have an answer, but that is beside the point. As I have said before, I
will not be manipulated into playing anyone else's games by anyone else's
rules.

I may post my solution to the Oreb mystery later tonight, only because I
thought it up long ago and the subject has come up again. I have nothing
better to do with it. It doesn't involve time travel and it separates Mucor
and Oreb from Pike's ghost, which I think are different events, just as the
text divides them and has already been pointed out.
