This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I think tech went downhill, but I don?t see it as relevant to the decor of the chambers, which will be affected more by fashion except for the absence of high tech items.  
In this case we are told the ancient chambers had no chairs, only intricately fashioned cushions.  But cushions and chairs are surely available options in all non-Arctic societies from the Bronze Age onwards, so tech level doesn?t really matter, and the use of cushions rather than chairs tells us nothing about it.
The absence of chairs, however, tells us that the chamber was furnished at a time when chairs were unfashionable.  If we were told that Typhon?s quarters in Urth were furnished only with cushions, it would be a strong suggestion that the chamber came from this time.  On the other hand, if people (especially the upper classes) normally sat on chairs or benches in Typhon?s time, we would have an indication that the chambers were furnished some time later.
