This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Regarding the maid who plays Katharine:

"She was tall and slender, though not so tall nor so slender as Thecla, 
dark of complexion, dark of eye, raven of hair. Hers was such a face as 
I have never seen elsewhere, like a pool of pure water found in the 
midst of a wood. " Katharine herself presumably looks like this.

Severian: identical but pale. It's been pointed out that a pool is a mirror.

If Catherine is tall and dark, and Ouen is small and fair (see Dorcas), 
then their offspring might look like the maid as well as like Severian, 
or possibly blonde.

Does anything rule out that the maid is Severa? Is this too blindingly 
obvious? And what prevents the maid from being Merryn?
