This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I think you may have more luck mapping Marcus Aurelius to Patera Silk.
Severian is Claudius -- the Graves version.  (Could the grave robbers
in Chapter I of _Shadow_ be some sort of horrible unspoken punning
homage to Robert Graves?)

For fun, compare Master Ultan with Graves's description of Sulpicius
at the end of Chapter V of _I, Claudius._  Ultan informs us that his
Library has a reading room reserved for the Autarch Sulpicius....
