This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. This is just an idle observation. I'm not certain if it's been brought up=20
before but....Wolfe translates 'Apu-Punchau' as 'Head of Day'. In Tagalog,=20
at least, and possibly other languages spoken here in southeast asia, the=20
word 'apo' means leader.

  Before I discovered this list, I was trying to find reasons for Nessus=20
being somewhere south of here. Given that Nessus is supposed to be=20
somewhere in a huge land mass, that would mean that the oceans would have=20
receded by the time of the first empire. Indonesia, Malaysia, the=20
Philippines, Guam, Borneo - all landlocked, the northern parts of which=20
would be 'the hot lands of the north' (near the equator).

  That would put the Ascians in a not-so-hot area north of the equator:=20
China, the former USSR. Both communist countries, which is more or less=20
what the Ascians are. (Ascians=3DAsians?) I intend no racial slurs here - I=
'm=20
a Southeast Ascian myself.

  (Yes I know this is a crazy theory *g*)

  Does anyone speak native south american languages? Those people crossed=20
over into the Americas over the land bridge at the Bering Strait, and are=20
of Asian descent too. Perhaps there is a similar word for 'leader'?
