This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Yes! I think that's it. I almost chimed in earlier with a similar suggestion but I'm glad
your pas de deux with Gerry got there on its own.  Wolfe is Catholic and it is common for
sharers of a belief (not only religious) to speak to each other during public addresss in
a certain recognizable code.

It is possible, with patience, study AND empathy, for non-believers like Gerry and me to
pick up on the code. But it takes a certain awareness and effort to do so, where it comes
almost subconsciously for sharers of the belief.

Thus I think the debates about the "real science" behind alzabo and inhumi memory/personality
sharing are moot. What we are supposed to pick up on is the cannibalism/eucharistic aspects;
the magic/spirituality of it. I think for Gerry, science=real and magic/spirituality=fake, and
he applies this personal world-view principle to the works of Wolfe (where they may not belong).
Is he Dr. Gerry Crane in Wolfe's eyes? I think it is possible.
