the superb level of discourse here

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

While I like that kind of thing, I understand the people who=20 throw ULYSSES and THE SOUND AND THE FURY down and never pick them back up. The main thing with Wolfe is, you DO have to pay attention. Which some rea= ders aren't very keen on. FREE LIVE FREE and those darned morning glories catch= es a lot of people sleeping (although if you don't figure out what's going on before "all is revealed" anyway you are not paying attention on a much bigg= er level). I'm really not a fan of the OBW cover. On the other hand, the Long Sun cov= ers were OK, if nothing spectacularly good. But they all look like *gasp* Scie= nce Fiction Book Covers, which is honest advertising but not too good for getti= ng random non-SF people who would enjoy Wolfe to read him.
