This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. I still think people are significantly kinder and more peaceful across the
world now than they were 5000 years ago.

Moreover Jeff, I think your expressed outrage is an example of this. If it
were 5000 years ago and you became aware of a famine in China or N. Korea
you wouldn't attribute it to cruelty and man's inhumanity to man. You'd
attribute the famine to your God and worship His power and ability to smite 
your enemies. You'd write a Holy Book about it.

Most people just don't glory in the same things they gloried in their God
5000 years ago. It seems like a good thing to me, though I know some will
disagree.
