This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Clute's reviews in SF Weekly have tended to be like that--Clute at his most
pontificating and (usually) least enlightening.  The Hal Clement review is
the one I like best, for some reason.  Really a shame, given that I'd suppo=
se
it's possible it's his largest audience.

The Fantasy Encyclopedia is, I'd argue, even better than the SF Encyclopedi=
a.
It leaves more out because it has a much larger, really, ground to tackle, =

what's there is very good (including nice articles on most everyone, save
Proust, who could be thought of as a major influence on Wolfe--very nice on=

on Chesterton and Lewis by our list's own Dave Langford).
