This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Sorry I did not see this earlier. If you can find a copy of /Operation 
ARES/, his first (and pretty uneven)  novel, you'll see lots of 
political and contemporary stuff pretty much on the surface, including a 
satirical ending. I think the viewpoints have always been there. I 
should also mention /Free Live Free/, which is contemporary and highly 
"political" and was published in 1984 (!).
