This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

That's pretty funny. I suppose we could also say that Scylla should have=20

This is how I've always pictured it, too. However, this does raise the=20
question--if the White Fountain adds more than the black hole can take, the=
n=20
won't that build up, causing the New Sun to grow constantly brighter at a=20
steadily increasing rate? That doesn't sound very hospitable! Hmmm...any=20
thoughts on how this is supposed to work? (Physics isn't my strong point, I=20
fear.)

One final conjecture: when reading TBOTNS, I always received the impression=20
that the giants/entities/whatever were immeasurably ancient (of course, all=20
of Urth is immeasurably ancient). They had an "eternal" feel to them.=20
Certainly, there is never any mention in the Book of how these entities=20
arrived. Granted, at the moment, I have no textual evidence to give you, bu=
t=20
here's a speculation: what if Abaia & Co. are presumed to be already living=20
in the sea (or on Mt. Erebus, if that is taken as Erebus' physical throne)=20
in our own age--simply inactive (because they are young, or because they ar=
e=20
waiting, or for some other reason). Only a hypothesis--but perhaps an=20
interesting one.
