This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Heh, yep, I had considered the moistness and textural components to 
the metaphor also. But, as mentioned, focusing on it as a reference to
hair color and possible identity clue also serves to absolve Wolfe from 
the accusation of using purple (and rather awkward) sexual prose. I'd
rather think the best of him, if the opportunity is afforded :-).
