Wow. Well, he had a good innings, as Dan'l points out, and he wasn't
writing anymore, but this still feels like a sad loss. So many
wonderful, exotic worlds. And a big influence on Wolfe even before you
factor-in the The Dying Earth stories.

Brian Aldiss called him 'a gaudily painted coelacanth, washed up on
SF's shore', which I always liked.

RIP.
