This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Good point. Evidence that there is a part of him which strongly hopes his readers
will "get it right".

It would be interesting to learn how Often Wolfe has gain new insight on his own
writing from a reader.

>...And a lot of the nuance is lost on me as a foreigner!

I'm guessing it doesn't happen so often but frustration could magnify the occasional
occurrence into seeming greater.

I remember one debate over the connection (or lack of one) between "vine" and "liana"
among native english speakers. Once I think Wolfe's long residence in the "Midwest"
region of the USA came into play. Our personal life's experience surely affect us
all as Wolfe readers. Being raised Catholic probably helps some readers understand
Wolfe better than I ever could, on certain issues.
