This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. I interpret them as seeds of what later became the undersea lords - Erebus, 
Abaia et al.

(My pet hypothesis, admittedly coming from SF of a later era, is that they 
are nanotech-based seeds of near-Singularity level AIs.)
