May 2014 Wolfe interview in _Technology Review_

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

It's been a long time since I've read the book, but I don't recall thinking of the Shadow Children as human at all. I'm not saying that I rejected the idea of their being human, I'm saying that when I read the book it didn't register on me that they were or might be human. Was their description pictorial? Why are they assumed to be human?

As I said, the associations are symbolic rather than literal, so proving it is quite unlikely. Sandwalker and Eastwind ARE switched by a bite. Marsch is switched with a bite, too. But you don't buy it, that's fine.
