Different versions of "Forlesen"

Michael Andre-Driussi · 07 Mar 2000, 13:50 · from urth-v0028.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Dan Rabin,

Wow, great detective work! I don't recall ever hearing about this
difference. Are you going to continue in this vein of textual differences?
I vaguely remember some talk about possible diffs between "5HC" novella in
ORBIT and 5HC, but I can't recall if it was just speculation or somebody
had actually gotten down to doing the work of looking.

If you didn't already know, Galactic Central's "Urth-Man Extraordinary"
(UMX) only has one entry under Textual Variations, and it deals with the
diffs between FREE LIVE FREE published by Ziesing, Tor, and the UK edition.

So in my copy of UMX, I'm writing down your notes on "Forlesen," and
looking forward to any further findings.
