This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Hello all,

(Back after about a year's absence from the list).

Two brief speculations on the history of the guild of torturers:

1) The tradition that masters of the guild wear a cloak but no shirt comes=20
from Severian's imprisonment in the time of Typhon's reign, when he wore=20
only the officer's cape. Having Severian be a founder of his own guild woul=
d=20
be the sort of irony that is common in UotNs.
2) Severian, remembering his time in the classroom of Master Malrubius,=20
quotes Malrubius as speaking about Severian's diligence, and trailing off=20
with, "There was a boy..." Is it generally accepted that he was speaking of=20
Palaemon (before his exile)?
