This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Just a weird thought... We know that one of Wolfe's favorite
films (used heavily in at least two other stories) is THE
WIZARD OF OZ; and one of the "devices" in the film is the=20
use of sepiatoning for the "Kansas" segments and color for
the main "Oz" part of the film. I don't rightly know how=20
(if at all) this relates to the sepiatone photo.

But... Perhaps his life is "Kansas" and his LAD "Oz?" Idunno.=20
That doesn't seem to work too well. I sort of want to see=20
Part 5, which takes place more in the LAD office and less in=20
his memory/world as "Ozzish" and the sepia photo as a reminder=20
(souvenir?!?) of the "Kansasish" memory/world. But is it
workable? And if it is, is it workable only by forcefitting?
