Scattered Shot

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Good point. Still, it's not something he does very often. Certainly
Wolfe's works on the whole do not tend to attack the underlying
reality of the worlds created in the narrative (thier epistemology and
metaphysics, maybe, but in an almost Newman-esque way that is hardly
"socially constructed reality").

Agreed. I'm shoring up my comments till I can get through a PEACE reread.

And, as to what Lafferty is:

> How about "Science Fiction's other weird literary Catholic"?

I repectfully submit that Lafferty is a good bit weirder than Wolfe.
