The NECRONOMICON

Roy C. Lackey · 13 Jun 2001, 13:32 · from urth-v0030.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

That's what I get for not doing the homework!

I don't know about the rest, but of the NECRONOMICON, Gold claims to have
"just wrote it" (215), and that it was "never mentioned in print anywhere
until the providential gentleman I spoke of a few moments ago made the
entire thing up. Now it has achieved reality . . ." (216) So I'm confused.
If HPL made it up, and Gold wrote it, did (does) it exist or not? If not,
who gets credit for it in the Invisible Library?
