Thoughts on the ending of Peace

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I don't have anything to add.  I just thought this was an interesting
interpretation.  It's jarring to think of the Chinese Pillow as a bad
thing since the second chance it offers is presented as a good thing in
the original story.  But the way you put it makes a lot of sense.

One hopes that, even if Weer is seduced by the opportunity to re-live all
his memories yet again (who knows how many times he's done it already
before the book opens?), he might eventually be able to break out of the
cycle.
