Pratchett and Wolfe

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Just picked up Andrew M. Butler's Pocket Essentials guide to Terry
Pratchett, and was struck dumb by one of his notes on "Small Gods":

"Brutha, with his photographic memory, and the role of torture in the world
echoes Gene Wolfe's _The Book of the New Sun_ (1980-83) sequence."

This certainly never occurred to me when reading "Small Gods," Pratchett's
most sustained attack on organized religion, especially the Catholic
Inquisition, and I don't remember Pratchett ever mentioning Wolfe in ay
context whatsoever.
