This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Yes, it's a fantastic essay.    I believe it positions Wolfe as a conscious
inheritor of Lewis and Tolkien  -  far more *deliberately* using his art in
the service of his political and social ideals than he has ever acknowledged
up till now.

It is a great pity (and an utterly not-understandable thing) that it was
refused for MEDITATIONS ON MIDDLE-EARTH.

Might I politely ask you all to pass on information about it to anyone who
might be interested?    I really think it should see book publication, and
in fact I have posted it on my web site with the end in mind.
