This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. I can see how Wolfe might like Lawhead for his portrayal of a pagan religio=

being transformed into a simulacra of Christian monotheism in the few books=20
that I've read by him (In the Hall of the Dragon King, Warlords of Nin, Swo=
rd=20
and the Flame).  In those books, the main character who starts as an=20
apprentice in a pagan temple becomes King and comes to understand that ther=
e=20
is One True God and makes everyone recognize their personal relationship to=20
that God (or something).  I found his message a little bit too overt and=20
blatantly fundamentalist in nature, but that might be just me. =20
I really liked Terry Brooks in the fourth grade, but I have no idea if I wo=
uld=20
like him now (it's hard to accurately judge books of which you have fond=20
childhood memories).  Much like Tolkien, I consider him primarily a childre=
n's=20
writer - and I think I read Brooks before Tolkien, and subsequently liked h=
im=20
a little more ... but once again, I was only nine or ten years old.
