urth list technical stuff

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

As many of you have remarked, the new Urth list's digest
format appears as a series of attachments rather than
a single long message.  Depending on your mail software,
this may be a particularly inconvenient or just an ugly way
to read the digest.  I'm stuck with the mailing list
software that's available to me, but I'll see if there's a
way to fix the digests.  Please put up with it for now, or
switch to individual messages, and maybe a solution will
present itself.

As for the archives, they should be available and current
again within a few weeks.
