This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

And while I don't take "Hyacinth as possibly a man" seriously, there is a=20
funny comment that Quetzal makes.
When Silk says he disgraced his office and states he slept with a woman in=20
Calde of the Long Sun, Quetzal replies to the metaquestion: Would you belie=
ve=20
me if I told you ...
with "Certainly not." or some other negative.  If he is responding to the=20
question "Would you believe me if I told you I slept with a woman?"
then an answer along the lines of "I don't believe you" might imply somethi=
ng=20
about the gender of the person Silk slept with.  Just thought it was funny.
And there's that whole scene where Severian vehemently denies molesting lit=
tle=20
Severian ... as if any reader would have thought of that on their own. It's=20
one of those places where the negative statement places the positive statme=
nt=20
in our consciousness.  Odd.
