Digest from urth@urth.net

Michael Andre-Driussi · 12 Feb 2002, 14:36 · from urth-v0202.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Um, because they are descendents of invaders who arrived less than the
magic mutational number of chiliads ago? (My recollection was that in
Severian's musing it was 10 or more chiliads.) Just like South America
today?

Like that old joke: "What do you call a group of people who have lived in
the arctic circle for ten thousand years?"

Answer: "Blond."
