This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

To answer your first question: All of the "contemporary" action of books 2&3
(as recounted by Silkhorn), and part of the contemporary action of book 1,
takes place in a single season, believe it or not. Silkhorn was back in New
Viron when he wrote:

    "Sunshine and a mild wind; winter is about over. So I pray. When it
began, I was in Gaon fighting the Man of Han; I would never have guessed
that when it ended I would be nearly home." (RTTW, 261)

By "nearly home" he means, of course, that New Viron is not Lizard. Three
"years" is the only word that makes sense in that quote. But the "nearly two
years" figure for his quest is made again on page 260. I dunno.
