5HC a good introduction to wolfe? (was Washington Post article)

Alex David Groce · 18 Apr 2002, 05:22 · from urth-v0204.mbox · original

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Another random minor 5HC tidbit:

The man in black who arrests V.R.T. being from (at least for the
moment) The Department of Public Works, Subdepartment of Sewers and
Drains could be a nice little nod to Solzhenitsyn's "The History of
Our Sewage Disposal System" except 5HC is 1972 and _The Gulag
Archipelago_ didn't come out until 1973 in the US.
