This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything
here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer
encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the
archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those
repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is
for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site,
so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

It just occurred to me that Long Sun was originally called "Starcrosser's=20
Landfall" (LoC data in the first edition of *Lake,* and Horn's statement at=20
the end of the series somewhere) -- and of course this is a link with 5HC.
Thematically, 5HC is closer to Short Sun, so if Wolfe was thinking=20
"starcrosser" for Long Sun, that would indicate that he was thinking of the=20
same universe. Or else, that he just likes the word and considered using it=20
again. Or maybe that we ought to look for more 5HC themes in Long Sun than=20
seem to be there (seem to me to be there, anyway).
Same universe, then? Well, Briah is the Bang-gnaB of a previous=20
universe, but the No. 5 seems to be a descendant of Wolfe, in this=20
universe. So, "same universe" would not seem to be right.
Yet, people from Lemuria/Atlantis building spaceships? That ain't=20
OUR universe. So maybe No. 5 is a descendant of the Briah Wolfe, not of our=20
Wolfe.
Not that it matters. But it's fun to fool around with.
