This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

Kind of like plugging a hole by putting the other end of the hole in the
original hole?  Or maybe a bathtub drain that leads back to the bathtub,
refilling it?

If so, it might be more accurate to speak of Healing the Wounded Sun
rather than replacing the Old Sun with the New Sun.

Except I still obviously don't understand anything because if the world
Severian returns to is a whole new universe, then the Urth of the first
four books never gets a New Sun, it just dies with the old one.  And the
new world, Ushas, shouldn't need a New Sun.

Time to reread.
