This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Of course not: but the idea was a hell of a lot more novel and powerful then
than it is now.

I think there is also a cross-influence from Clark Ashton Smith, whose
Zothique stories set in a far future Southern continent were perhaps the
first mass pulp exploitation of this idea, and were an influence on both
writers.
