This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I feel obliged to protest the use of the term "catholic" in this
context ... it isn't that the Roman church didn't do more than its=20
share of persecution of Jews, but that other churches (including=20
the Orthodox churches and many of the early Protestant churches)=20
were equally guilty of this, and that some Protestant sects to this
day teach that the Jews are "Christ-killers" when the Catholic church
has clearly renounced such teachings. So my protest is not against
the basic idea, only the singling out of Catholicism.
