TBOTSS and colonialism

This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

I don't see how you can hold to that view of mind/body relationship and
still view chems as persons (which Wolfe obviously does).

If a soul is only 'real' if it is part of a human being, then chems and
inhumi and Babbie and digitized "gods" are all just "a fake so deep that
the poor minds themselves believe it to be true."

There are people who believe that to be the case, that an AI for instance,
would only be pretending to have consciousness, but I don't think that is
the stance Wolfe is taking in these books.

For further disproof, note that Fava's soul seems to survive her death in
some way, living on in Mora's dreams and enabling them both to posess
Vadsig.
