This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Email addresses are obscured here as they are everywhere else on the site, so it is before our repairs rather than byte for byte.

M. John Harrison is a very fine British writer of SF and mainstream fiction=

He's probably best known in the States for his Viriconium books: _The
Pastel City_, _A Storm of Wings_, and _The Floating Gods_.  There was a
story collection, as well, though I think the US title was different than t=
he
UK title: moreover, one or more of the novels is an expansion of some of
the short stories, and his whole publication history is a bit chaotic.  I
understand that several of his novels have been published in the UK but
not yet in the US.  However, the Viriconium books all had paperback
editions in the States, the later ones were published by Timescape, IIRC.

He's very good, very evocative, and, I'd say, very British.  _The Pastel
City_ was published in about 1973, so it, at least, was not influenced by
TBotNS.  Definitely recommended, though, and certainly of the same
general orbit as Wolfe.
