This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for.          I've always taken *Peace* to be about purgatory, a man (ghost in=20
purgatory) reviewing the memory-house of his life and coming to grips with=20
it, on his way to peace. I take it that you are saying Weer is trapped in=20
the house of his life, doomed to review it forever, cycling through it but=20
never completing it. I think of Marley's "These are the chains I forged in=20
life." Compelling evidence.
         But what about the title of the novel? That was what has made me=20
think of purgatory as the overarching concept. Is there any reason to=20
believe that something like the prayers of Margaret for Weer might factor=20
into a more positive destiny for Weer?
