This is the message as the crawl holds it, before anything here touched it. What the conversation shows has been through ingest: transfer encodings decoded, attachments dropped, quote markers repaired, and the archiver’s ? resolved into quotation marks and dashes. Those repairs are judgements and some of them are wrong, which is what this page is for. Interesting idea.  I've always thought they were "shadowless" because of
their lack of individuality.  If we take the route that to have a shadow
is to have a soul (Vampires have no reflection) and to have a soul is to
be human, then the Ascians have lost what makes them human.  In this
case, I've always considered that to be their individuality.  Although I
find the darkness theory reasonable and even somewhat similar.
